The popular Yom Kippur Break the Fast Potluck will conclude our High Holy Day observance at the end of services on September 25th

Please RSVP by September 23rd

By clicking on her name, you will be able to communicate directly with Shoshanah who is taking reservations.  Tell her the full names of everyone in your group and what you plan to bring to the potluck. The dinner will be held at the end of Yom Kippur services at St. Mark’s.

We hope you will join us for this festive conclusion of the High Holy Days 5784!

IMPORTANT: Why RSVP? Simply put, so we know how many tables and chairs to set up.

At the Erev Rosh Hashanah potluck, we had several people arrive without having made reservations. While we were delighted to see them, there were not enough chairs set up to accommodate them. A last minute scramble got everyone a seat, but we would like to not have to do that again.

Please help the set up crew by submitting your RSVP by the 23rd.

Also IMPORTANT: Please DO NOT hit reply, as that will send your response to someone else.

Thank you for your help.

To SYVJC member Rebecca August for her work on a new mural

at the Wilding Museum

Rebecca is in the Center of this photo

Excepted from the Santa Ynez Valley News September 7th issue of the SYV News…..

Three Santa Ynez Valley residents volunteered their time and talent over the summer to bring new life to the Wildling Museum's George and Barbara Goodall Education Center, that now features an expansive mural of a fox resting under a large oak tree.

The mural project was led by volunteer artist Stacey Thompson, and supported by artists Rebecca August and Carolyn Dorwin, all of whom spent over two months painting the mural by hand. August also added a finishing touch with the addition of a grey fox.

“The mural is so much more than we had hoped for. It has been amazing to watch it evolve over the past two months," said Stacey Otte-Demangate, museum executive director. "It has really brought nature into our space in the most beautiful way and is already inspiring people to make personal pledges to live more sustainably.”

The new mural spans a full museum wall and includes a quote from legendary environmentalist Jane Goodall: “The small choices we make each day can lead to the kind of world that we all want for the future.”
