Resources for Managing Your Child’s Food Allergy with Success

Managing the Most Common Food Allergies
Helping your child manage life with a food allergy can be challenging. One key to success is understanding common food allergens. Check out our guides to top food allergens to learn more about both identifying and managing these food allergies.
Finding Safe Foods
Managing a food allergy often means searching for enjoyable allergy-friendly foods and recipes. Recently, Enjoy Life Foods announced their baked goods line is discontinued.

If you need to find alternatives, check out our allergy-friendly food listings on our community. New additions include dairy-free queso, peanut-free spread, and egg-free hard-boiled plant-based “eggs.”
With kids back in school, easy breakfast and lunch hacks can help you on busy days. We have some allergy-friendly breakfast ideas that are grab-and-go to help you save time in the morning! And for lunch, try our lunchbox tips and ideas.

Is a Food Allergy Cause for Concern When Hiking or Playing Outside?
If your child has a food allergy, you may be wondering if exposure to pollen or leaves from the related plants (nut-bearing trees, for example) poses any danger. Allergist John James, MD, offers reassurance, noting that exposure to the leaves or pollen is not likely to cause a reaction, as the actual nut or protein (the allergen) would have to be eaten in order for a reaction to occur.

More questions? Send it to our Ask the Allergist service. You can also chat with other people with asthma and allergies on our online community for support.
