Here are some recent developments and publications:
- CSA announced the appointment of Eric Spink as the new Chair of the CSA Investor Advisory Panel (IAP). It is also seeking applications for new members to the panel.
- The CSA published its consolidated Year in Review. The report highlights the progress the CSA has made between July 1, 2022, and June 30, 2023.
- OSC continues to hold non-compliant crypto asset trading platforms accountable.
- OSC issued temporary cease trade order against myforexfunds.com.
- Canadian securities regulators extended exemptions to facilitate OEO trailer ban transition
- Canadian securities regulators initiated review of exchange-traded funds.
- CSA updated industry on institutional trade matching deadline.
- The OSC announced the appointment of Craig Hayman as a Special Advisor on issues related to the regulation and oversight of registered firms and individuals.
- CSA and CIRO released results of review and guidance on conflicts of interest obligations.
- CPMI and IOSCO report highlighted the need for central counterparties to have adequate resources and appropriate tools to address non-default losses.

Fall into investor education
|
Soon it will be World Investor Week from October 2 to 8 and Investor Education Month. World Investor Week is a global campaign to raise awareness about the importance of investor education by the International Organization of Securities Commissions. It will focus on three main themes: investor resilience, crypto assets and Sustainable Finance. The OSC is one of two Canadian national co-coordinators, along with the Autorité des marchés financiers.
