Dear <<First Name>>,

You are invited to commemorate Indigenous Peoples’ Day at an LLI members-only luncheon on Monday, October 9th. The event will be held in the Multipurpose Room in Bertelsmann Campus Center on the Bard Campus. The meal will begin at noon. Registration is limited to 100 members, first come, first served. The registration deadline is October 4.

Our special guest speaker is Tatiana Blackhorse, a Bard sophomore and founder of Bard’s Indigenous Students’ Association. Tatiana, who is of Navajo descent, will open the program with a Land Acknowledgment. Following that, she will give a short presentation on the food offered, the Food Sovereignty Movement, and the activities of her student group.

Parkhurst Catering has created a special vegetarian menu featuring Native American recipes prepared with produce gathered from Bard Farm. Gluten-free options will be available.

The luncheon is hosted by the Bard LLI DEI/Justice Team and the Social Gatherings Team and is inspired by the Bard College Rethinking Place: Bard-on-Mahicantuck initiative. Please note that the exhibition at Hessel Museum entitled Indian Theater: Native Performance, Art, and Self-Determination since 1969 continues through November.
