| DEIA Resource of the Month | Uncharted: How Scientists Navigate Their Own Health, Research, and Experiences of Bias | | “People with disabilities are underrepresented in STEM fields, and all too often, they face isolation and ableism in academia. Uncharted is a collection of powerful first-person stories by current and former scientists with disabilities or chronic conditions. They have faced changes in their careers, including both successes and challenges, because of their health.”
Science, especially fieldwork, can be a tough place to navigate with a disability or chronic condition—but a rewarding place, too. This book dives into the often overlooked importance of including those with disabilities. |

Bluesky (bsky.app) is an emerging Twitter/X alternative gaining traction, particularly around science. Of course, the network is still growing, but science folks are showing up and interacting here.
Bluesky is in beta, so you need a code to join at the moment. But, it seems this might change any given day, and plenty of folks are already online. If you’re interested in a code, check out this form—it’s specifically geared towards getting scientists on the platform.
If you’re looking for a primer on Bluesky, or curious how it differs from other platforms, see the excellent Bluesky Primer for Scientists by Steve Haroz and Mark Rubin.
And of course, give us a follow at bsky.app/profile/uslter.bsky.social. See you on the platform!
Our other accounts are, of course, active! Remember to tag us at @USLTER for retweets and possible features! And, give @lter_community a follow on Instagram.
