Happy New Year!

There’s a lot brewing in the watershed!

In our recent survey, many of you asked us what you could do to help. Here’s a short but vital list:

  • Volunteer We need you and so does the watershed. Browse our list of help wanteds and let us know how you'd like to get involved.
  • Airport FEIR Planning Commission Meeting Jan. 24, 7 pm, at City Hall on Fourth St. in San Rafael. The developer is pushing for a zoning change that will affect sensitive wetlands. You can find background docs here. The Marin Conservation League also has a good summary of the issues at stake. Please come and show support for your watershed.
  • Watershed Planning Meeting with Liz Lewis and GWC on Wednesday Feb. 29 from 7-9 pm at the Korean Presbyterian Church in Santa Venetia. Liz is Marin County’s principal planner for the county’s watershed programs. She has prepared a Draft proposal for our area and can answer many of the questions raised by residents over the years and in the survey. Dredging, flooding, sea level rise, restoration---you won’t want to miss this one!
  • Please “Like us” on Facebook! Numbers matter. This shows the city and county that we have support and helps us avoid over-emailing people when something important comes up.
  • Survey Report and Q&A. We got a LOT of great comments and questions on the survey. Here’s where you can see the tabulated results and find the answers.
  • Come to our next GWC meeting: Monday Feb. 13, 2012 at 7 pm. RSVP to gallinasvalley@gmail.com for location and directions.
  • Visit our website http://www.gallinaswatershed.org/ for more information on ways to get involved.

Thanks from all of us at GWC!

See you in the Watershed
