Reimbursement Forms Completed in IBUS Due by October 2   

IBUS Reimbursement Claims for 2022-2023 may now be submitted. The deadline for submission is October 2. This deadline allows the Department of Education to review claims and provide feedback prior to or during 2023-2024 spot inspections. Employees in need of additional time to complete their claim can apply for a four-day extension by contacting your regional specialist, Zane Cliver at zcliver@sde.idaho.gov. The first reimbursement installment is scheduled for February 2024. Instructions for completing the claim form are available at the button below. Although any type of document can be uploaded to your claim, the SDE encourages LEAs to upload PDF versions of supporting documents to expedite the review process.

Update: Sign-Up Begins for Story of America Supplemental Curriculum

Sign-up is now underway for Idaho schools interested in accessing U.S. History: The Story of America, an online curriculum developed by Istation. Materials will be available at no cost to schools starting in the 2023-24 school year and for the following two years. The program is designed for use by history students in 8th and 11th grades. Istation is reaching out to educators and administrators in the coming weeks to begin the sign-up process.

Registration Now Open for the 2023 Idaho FACE Conference  

Educators interested in exploring ways to increase participation and communication between families, schools and communities now have the opportunity to register for the 2023 Family & Community Engagement (FACE) Conference. This year's conference includes a two-day event at the Boise Centre in Boise on November 1 - 3 as well as a single-day event at the Coeur d'Alene Resort in Coeur d'Alene on November 13. Attendees at the Boise event can add an optional Community School visit on November 3. The cost for the Boise event is $150 and the cost for the Coeur d'Alene event is $50.

Sources of Strength Grants Still Available for Eligible Schools  

Schools interested in free, ongoing suicide prevention training can still apply for a Sources of Strength grant administered by the Idaho State Department of Education. Any Idaho public high school that has not previously received the grant is free to apply. Selected schools will receive Sources of Strength program materials and free training for school staff. Sources of Strength is a best-practice youth mental health promotion and suicide prevention program that aims to prevent adverse outcomes by increasing well-being, help-seeking, resiliency, healthy coping and belonging. Empower Your Teaching Journey With Free Professional Development Courses from Idaho Science Coaches

The Idaho Science Coaches team offers a variety of flexible courses that allow instructors to adapt learning to their lifestyle. Connect with fellow educators from across the state and equip yourself with the latest methodologies for science instruction. Fall online courses and in-person workshops are now open for registration.

Registration Now Open for the 21st Annual Mega Conference for Educators 

The National Literacy Institute would like to extend an invitation to educators and administrators for their 2023 Education Mega Conference. This year's theme of "Empowering, Emerging and Elevating All to Reach New Heights" addresses the important issue of ensuring every learner and educator has the tools and agency needed to succeed in school and in life. The conference offers sessions that are tailored to district and school leaders as well as classroom educators. This year's conference will take place on November 2 - 3 in Houston, Texas. The conference is also seeking proposal submissions. Teachers and administrators interested in presenting in a 75-minute session can submit their proposal here

Parent Resources on School Meals and Child Nutrition Available from the USDA

Parents in Idaho with questions about their child's nutrition both in and out of the classroom can access a variety of resources just for parents and caregivers with the USDA's "The School Day Just Got Healthier" webpage. The page offers tips on how to talk to kids about their school meals, nutrition choices, how to introduce kids to grocery shopping and more. Parents can also access downloadable resources on changes that have been made to school lunch guidelines and a complete explanation of school lunches and how to get kids interested in nutrition, available in both English and Spanish.

Join the Idaho Dance Education Organization at their 7th Annual Conference "Healthy Mind and Body with Wellness"      

Dance educators in Idaho will once again have the opportunity to learn and collaborate at the 7th annual IDEO annual conference, "Healthy Mind and Body with Wellness." This year's keynote speaker is Swiss dancer and educator Eric Franklin, the founder of the Franklin Method. He has been actively sharing his method to help movers better understand their bodies for over 25 years. This year's event kicks off at the Brigham Young University Idaho campus in Rexburg with a teacher workshop on October 13 followed by the main conference on October 14.
