Notice: Bear Activity in the Community

Bear activity has been observed in the community. To avoid food conditioned animals residents are asked to follow the guidelines below for curbside collection. These measures are described in Tk'emlups to Secwepemc Solid Waste Bylaw Number 2019-04 and put in place to keep neighbourhoods safe and to protect wildlife.

The following measures are in effect until November 30:

  • Keep your garbage inside or secured stored until 4 am on collection day when it can be placed onto the curb. Garbage is the number one attractant for bears
  • Do not accumulate or improperly store bear attractants.
  • Store pet food indoors, keep barbecues clean, and remove bird feeders from May to November to keep bears away.

Don't Feed the Bears
Remember that a fed bear is a dead bear. Feeding bears, even unintentionally, is against the law in BC. (Dangerous Wildlife Protection Act, section 88.1).

Request for Proposals

Tk̓emlúps te Secwépemc is soliciting proposals from interested individuals or consulting firms experienced in community planning to develop a community-driven Comprehensive Community Plan (CCP). Priority will be given to qualified TteS members, however, submissions from independent consulting firms or joint proposals from a TteS member and a consultant are welcomed and encouraged.
