Course Evaluations
Completing course evaluations at OLLI is essential for maintaining and enhancing the quality of education, ensuring student satisfaction, and driving continuous improvement in our program and services. It is a collaborative effort between students, instructors, curriculum committee and staff to create a better learning experience for all participants. However, our return rate of students completing these has become very low. Please help us by completing these in your email once a course is completed. Think of it as your last step in finalizing your course. 
Laugh, learn, and discover the history of comedy. 
Comedy – Selected Origins and Highlights

Through the ages, what are the many things that have made us laugh? This course highlights the subject of Comedy dating back to ancient Greece and the Hebrew Bible. Topics will include theories on what makes us laugh, vaudeville, film, radio and television, along with a class detailing Stand-up comedians who learned craft entertaining in nightclubs and hotels. 

Abe Vorensky possesses a lifelong love and depth of knowledge comedy specifically its diverse history. This love began when Abe worked as an MC in a Catskill Mountain hotel where he sang, told jokes and introduced other entertainers. Through the years, Abe has remained an enthusiastic humor and comedy historian focusing on how comedy has played a role in our personal, social and political thought. Register online here.

The Mindset: Embracing The Sandwich Generation

Are you Aging or Maturing?  Declining and fading, or evolving and advancing? How you answer that question – your Mindset – can define outcomes to challenges that arise mid-life. Adult children get squeezed in the “sandwich generation” of simultaneously caring for their own kids and aging parents. Feeling a sense of control over this specific set of issues requires the proper mindset, one that allows you to reframe challenges as opportunities.

In this series of moderated discussions. each with time for Q&A, a range of subject matter experts will discuss positive ways of addressing some of the challenges life presents for the 40 to 60-something set.

About Kathleen: With three college-aged sons, aging parents who live 1000 miles away, and two small business side hustles, Kathleen has extensive experience in maintaining a positive mindset to get the most out of this hectic but rewarding season of life. Watch video
