Last week, Mental Health Reform
launched it's Agenda for Action - Guiding
A Vision for Change.
The
Agenda for Action proposes clear steps to guide A Vision for Change to completion. It highlights the promotion of the recovery ethos, modernisation of the mental health services and increased accountability, transparency and governance as the three essential components to transform Ireland’s mental health services. A more detailed Manifesto is also available
here.
We know that implementation of A Vision for Change will not happen by itself; dedicated support from all stakeholders and local communities is needed to advance the mental health services of this country. The changes Mental Health Reform propose are vital to create a quality, modern and humane service. Service users must be treated with empathy, respect and dignity by all mental health professionals they encounter on their way to recovery. All people in Ireland must have access to high quality, affordable services.
The Agenda for Action is the result of the many consultations and meetings we held throughout 2011 and we want to thank everyone who helped us in this process.
Now, we will ask for your help again:
Please tell
your local TDs about the Agenda for Action and ask them to support our asks. There is a link at the bottom of this email that will bring you to our website. From there you can email your TDs straight away. Tell them that you are involved with Mental Health Reform. Ask everyone you know to read the Agenda for Action and to help us spread the word.
