OKC Goes from Fat to Fit Men's Fitness magazine recently named Oklahoma City the 23rd fittest city in the nation, up from the second fattest in 2009. The dramatic turnaround earned Oklahoma City the title of the "biggest success story" from Men's Fitness. Read story. The magazine credits the city's transformation to Mayor Mick Cornett's push for OKC to lose one million pounds—something that citizens accomplished in January 2012. The Rachael Ray Show honored the city's commitment to fitness with an hour-long segment highlighting Oklahoma City's success. Olympic Spotlight on OKC |
The Oklahoma River, a U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Training Site, will host Olympic trials for the Flatwater Canoe Sprint on April 20. The Oklahoma River Boathouse Foundation and the Oklahoma City National High Performance Center currently train 15 Olympic hopefuls and provide a variety of sport adventure programs for all ages and fitness levels. Represent OKC in D.C. |
The Greater Oklahoma City Chamber's annual D.C. Visit gives you the opportunity to represent the business interests of Oklahoma City on a national level. This two-day trip, scheduled for June 27-28, will include personal briefings with Oklahoma's Senators and Congressmen and a reception on Capitol Hill with federal officials. U.S. Senator Inhofe will host the group as they learn about legislation affecting local businesses. The $750 per person cost includes one night at The Liaison Capitol Hill, all affiliated events and meals. Air travel is not included, giving attendees the option of extending their trip. Register. |
