March 2012
Passion, Purpose & Peers
|
Hello everyone! I am entering March with a newfound vitality. After a whirlwind February, I realized how much easier life is when one has a passion and a purpose. So, ask yourself:
-
What is your passion?
-
What is your purpose?
-
How are you living—or not living—your passion, daily?
-
Can you live with more purpose?
As important as passion and purpose are, your peers are priceless. We are the sum of who we spend time with. Our peers can energize or enervate us, so ask yourself:
-
Who are your peers?
-
How are you inspired by your peers?
-
Do you attract great peers?

Marchoff: A Great Way to Unwire and Rewire for Wellness
I was home for exactly five days in February; the rest of the time I was traveling. I love my life and my career, but sometimes even I need to take my own advice and unwire. Over dinner last week, a friend asked me about some health challenges that I had been navigating and how I was going to recuperate from my February travels. I responded by saying, “Well, I’m taking March off.”
The restaurant was loud and the wine was flowing freely, and my friend responded, “Marchoff? I’m not familiar with Marchoff. Tell me, what does that drug do?”
Feeling a little impish, I said: “Oh, Marchoff is wonderful. It helps you focus on what matters most. It enables you to sleep at least eight hours every night. You feel more grounded, centered, and focused, with a side effect of laughter.”
As I talked, her intrigue deepened until I could no longer keep a straight face. I then explained that I am taking the month of March off.We laughed until we cried.
But it occurred to me that Marchoff, as I now call it, is actually a great remedy and tool for rejuvenation; it’s a fun way to unwire and then rewire for wellness. I am not going to travel this month. I am going to stay home and rest, rejuvenate, write, refocus, and finish setting up my home and my home office.
Here are some other components of Marchoff that I plan to follow:
-
Get 8 hours of sleep every night.
-
Exercise every day (I plan to get fresh air and do yoga).
-
Get out in nature.
-
Have date nights with my husband.
-
Read for fun.
-
Write for fun.
All of these are super simple strategies for unwiring and rejuvenating, and everyone can do them. You don’t need a month off; you can find time every day for your own mini-Marchoff.
Read more about unwiring and rejuvenating in my book, Rewired: How to Work Smarter, Live Better, and Be Purposefully Productive.
