Lion Rock's Newsletter
Even though CY Leung is in front of Henry Tang and Albert Ho in opinion polls, there is no guarantee that he will win the CE election on Mar 25. Nonetheless, there is one clear winner so far in this election, Hong Kong Federation of Trade Unions. Although both Henry Tang and CY declared that it is not YET the time for the legislation on standard working hours, which the LRI called as the "maximum working hours", they have both listed the legislation of standard working hours in their manifestos. This has been a cunning campaign by the FTU, including both their influence on candidates and other public propaganda, in which they suggested long working hours were the main cause of many HK girls' difficulties in finding a boyfriend - interesting message.
Beside the CE election, the proposed competition law is approaching the latter stages. TDC, and others are included in the list of exemptions despite causing huge controversy under the Government's proposal. It is expected that the process will speed up after the CE election.
The Lion Rock's Roar
In his personal column in Sharp Daily, Simon Lee discussed the problem of poverty in Hong Kong, suggesting that instead of asking for more and more help from the government, the poor should start learning personal financial management, and work hard to overcome poverty. He has also suggested a good online article, called "The 5 Stupidest Habits You Develop Growing Up Poor".
Lastly, Simon Lee will further co-operate with i-Cable TV, starting a new show called "富.事.通" every Wednesday. He will also appear more often on the talk show "Money Cafe", do not miss them!
