Public Health Law Center - In a big win for climate policy targeting building emissions, the Southern District of New York upheld a New York City ordinance which prohibits the burning of fuels with high greenhouse-gas emissions in new construction.
Politico - Gas appliances may be going from a culture-war topic to a player in California’s affordability debate. Appliance makers who have been fighting local bans on natural gas stoves, water heaters and other devices are now thinking about taking that fight to the ballot.
Canary Media - Last week, the California Heat Pump Partnership announced the nation’s first statewide blueprint to achieve the state’s ambitious goals for deploying heat pumps. The plan draws on recommendations from the public-private partnership’s members, which include government agencies, heat pump manufacturers, retailers, utilities, and other stakeholders.
Canary Media - The Trump administration insists that renewables are making energy more expensive and that more fossil-fueled power will reduce utility bills. But those claims are false — and if congressional Republicans succeed in repealing key tax credits supporting the growth of clean energy, Americans will suffer the consequences in higher electric bills.
