We need to know: What's the issue, Los Angeles?
This LA2050 Grants Challenge season we're taking to the streets to ask one very important question: "What do you consider to be the biggest issue in Los Angeles?"
For our first interview, we met Amae, a USC undergraduate student. Clad in sweats and on the way to Trader Joe’s following an early morning class, she stopped to share with us what issue is most important to her: affordable housing and homelessness.
Check out Amae's full response on Instagram or TikTok, and follow along as we share more perspectives from Angelenos.

Even if we haven’t connected in person, we need your input! Help us decide how to distribute $1 million to local organizations across LA by sharing the issues that matter most to you – now through April 18th.
Voting is open to all ages, available in 12+ languages, and takes less than five minutes.
So, tell us: what do you care about?
First, Angelenos vote for the issues, online from March 12th to April 18th. Then, on April 28th, we'll open grant applications to organizations with ideas to address the top-voted issues. Last, we'll evaluate proposals and award more than $3 million in grants – $1 million as voted by Angelenos, and the additional amount from funding partners.
LA2050 is granting $1 million to organizations working to solve the top-voted issues.
Right now, these 10 issue areas are in the lead...
PLAY
1/ Community safety
2/ Green space, park access, and trees
CONNECT
1/ Public transit
2/ Immigrant and refugee support
LEARN
1/ K-12 STEAM education
2/ Foster and systems-impacted youth
LIVE
1/ Affordable housing and homelessness
2/ Health care access
CREATE
1/ Income inequality
2/ Access to tech and creative industry employment
With more than three weeks left to vote, there’s still time to move your priorities to the top! If an issue you care about — like walk-able and bike-able streets, food access, early education, support for entrepreneurs, or civic engagement — isn’t on this list, make your voice heard now.
