We’re All Road Maps
April 2025
From daily commutes to vacation travels, from weekend getaways to full scale vacations, we weave our experiences into our lives like the roads we follow on gps. People tend to block out the less glamorous treks, the disappointing events and the necessary rest stops, though they are indelibly drawn on our maps. Or in my case, they’re painted into my work—as in “Just Passing through” and “Beckon” above.
I’ve been at a kind of rest stop since my show last month, reflecting on past (like my BGSU pic below,) present (my Lost and Found Paintings above), and future. The pause came at the perfect time for an interview I did with South Carolina Voyager. Their invitation to tell my story made me examine the road map I’ve travelled over the years. I hope you enjoy reading it when you have time.
