Dear colleague,

Welcome to the Ealing Gatekeeping Directors' Report to governors/trustees for April 2025. The half termly Gatekeeping Directors’ Report presents items of relevance to governing boards that have been shared via Ealing’s Gatekeeping newsletter with schools since February via Gatekeeping. 


A copy of this Gatekeeping online Directors’ Report to governing boards has been sent to all governors, trustees and clerks via the Ealing membership data base (on GovernorHub). Please note the email address it will be sent from is info@governorhub.email so please check your ’junk’ folder if you do not receive. It can also be found on the Ealing Governor Services GovernorHub noticeboard and Ealing Grid for Learning (EGfL). Previous editions of the Directors’ Report can also be found on EGfL.

Please note as this is an online report consisting of links to relevant EGfL Gatekeeping pages. Unfortunately, it cannot be formatted into one downloadable document.

Product recall: Conen motorised display wall mount (SCETAW)

Risk of crushing/impact injury may arise due to detachment from the wall and the equipment falling forwards. Any school using these mounts for flat panel display screens should contact the manufacturer for further advice.

Tree surgeries and inspections

Schools must have effective systems in place to manage trees on their sites, particularly those in areas frequently accessed by pupils, staff and the public. Tree surveys should be carried out at least once every two years.

How schools can prepare for new waste legislation

From 31 March 2025, schools will need to separate dry recyclable materials (plastic, metal, glass, paper, and card) and food waste from the rubbish. Headteachers can order free food waste bins via school order form.
