RSVP: Not yet! (we’ll let you know how to RSVP in the next newsletter)
Location: Downtown Seattle (exact location TBD).
Details: Please save the date for our April book club, where we will discuss the 1962 novel by biologist Rachel Carson. In Silent Spring, Rachel Carson exposed the impacts of excessive pesticide use on the living world – the over-spraying of DDT, dieldrin and other pest killers. Carson accused the chemical industry of spreading disinformation, and public officials of accepting industry claims uncritically. Chemical companies tried to discredit her findings, but, most importantly, Silent Spring prompted an enormous environmental movement which continues today. Still relevant? Let's talk about it.

Recap

We are grateful to Jacqueline Drumheller with Alaska Airlines and Derek Eisel with Expeditors for sharing how they got sustainability on their company’s radar. Examples include not asking permission, making friends and using the word “opportunity.” Derek’s words of wisdom spanned evaluating your company’s environmental impact, recruiting people with skill sets you need and sharing that customers and investors are asking for environmental information. We also discussed the upcoming Impact at Work(shop). Keep your eye on our newsletters for sign up information!
