Productivity Tools

We all need to do things more efficiently. As a small business owner I am sometimes overwhelmed by the number of things I need to do each week. Here are my top tools for being more efficient.

Productivity Tools We Love!!

Dropbox. If you haven't heard of this tool it is fabulous. Basically it acts like another hard-drive that sits in the web. You can share documents with one another and share via a url to a website. This online file sharing tool is great for collaboration and projects as well as having a back-up of all your files that you can access from the web and even on your iphone! Boxnet is another online file service that is worth checking out.

Fiver.com is a site where freelancers give their services for $5! Yes you heard right. I have had my podcast intro done on fiver, some logos for my businesses and much more. I have also found freelancers that I use from time to time to update Facebook pages etc. The benefit for the freelancer is they get to do a project and hopefully then get other jobs at a better paying rate. The benefit for us is a great resource to get those tricky website updates, flyers, voice-overs and more done. Other sites for freelancers are guru, freelancer and odesk

Skype I am guessing most of you have heard of. The voice over internet telephone and video system. Skype is great for conference calls and video conferencing and is really affordable. Voice calls are free to other skype callers and very low cost to ring a local land line. Sometimes the quality is not there but I find generally it pretty good. I use the Skype Call Recorder software to do my podcasts.

Everbright is a great tool for scheduling events. It allows you to publicise the event and a link to your website and collect payment. Other event based tools are stickytickets and meetup

Jing is a screen and voice capture tool. We use it to make all our how to videos. You can use it to train staff, share a process or create some video footage of your screen to share on your site

Freshbooks is my live savor. It is an accounting package, time tracker and estimator all in one. Xero is another accounting software. Toggl is another online time tracking

Remember the milk is a nice to-do list tool. It integrates with your iphone and calendar.

Passpack is a great tool for collecting all your passwords especially if you have client passwords to remember.

Read it for me summaries management books as a video and pdf.

Google apps have many applications that can help run your business more efficiently. Google has calendar and email tools which you probably know about but they also have many marketplace apps that cover accounting. admin, sales and marketing and project management tools.
