New Nest Studio Postcards coming this week! be sure to share them with your friends!

What have we been up to this term?

You may have noticed lots of colour coming home over the past few weeks, the children have been practicing how different colour groups work together using water colour paint. We are about to put all that colour theory into good use as we embark on the next few weeks using acrylic paints on our final artworks. We have two exciting new projects for the children .... but I don't want to give too much away... remember the artworks will be on exhibition in May!
Some of the key words & concepts we have been focusing on are Warm, Cool, Neutral, Complimentary, Analogue, Monochromatic & Texture.  Through learning about colour theory the children have been applying their problem solving skills when mixing new colours and deciding on which colours to use.

FEATURE ARTIST

Hugo Begnini

It is my great pleasure to introduce Hugo Begnini, an artist who has been attending Nest Studio classes since 2007!
Hugo came to me way back with his mind and hand firmly set on drawing Thomas The Tank Engine only, which he possibly doesn't remember as he was only four.
Well Hugo is still as creative as ever, still loves to draw his favourite character ... the latest I think are Pokemon but as you can see from the art works he enjoys trying new things and has such a fabulous attitude towards being creative.

INTERVIEW with Hugo Begnini
Tell us about yourself Hugo.
Well, I am from Australia, I am from North Terrace, not the city one and I like drawing a lot.

Can you remember the first drawing you did?
No, but I remember doing the City painting and the Squid. (pictured above)

When did you first realise you enjoyed making art?
No idea, I have just always thought it was fun.

What is your favourite medium to work in?
Just drawing with pencils & coloured pencils

Do you have something that inspires your art making?
I just think it is fun because you can draw and create what ever you want, and I like to copy things like Pokemon!

Do you have a favourite piece of artwork you have created?
Well..... I like most of mine. I like most of my Pokemon drawing.

Can you tell me a little bit about your Spaceship print you did early summer?
The thing on the left is the sun and down the bottom is a circle with a forest inside, I was watching a movie and I saw this circle thing with a forest in it and thought I could put that in my print.

Do you have a favourite artist?
Umm... I am not sure what the persons name is but I love Manga.

Lastly Hugo, do you have any advice for other young artists?
Try your best, yes! try your best!

Thank you so much for sharing with us Hugo!

New Postcards are here!

It's about time don't you think.. we have some super fun new cards that feature our studio philosophy on the back (rather than an outdated timetable) be sure to pick a few up next time you are in the studio to give to friends!

Gift Vouchers

Some of you may have noticed Gift Vouchers coming home, these were sent home with children who's classes are not fully booked... we thought it was a nice idea to share them with friends who like art. We have already had 10 smiling new faces come through the studio so thank you to those parents who have taken advantage of the great offer.
We would also like to welcome children to bring friends along to class anytime (providing there is room, please call to book in!) at a discounted rate of $20 especially for Nest Studio families (One off class value $25 for non-studio families)

Our Gift Vouchers are now available in the shop ... you can use them to give art classes or presents from the shop!
