Hundreds of Upstate entrepreneurs faced off in business competitions for over $250,000 in prize money this past month.
CenterState CEO Emerging Business Competition: Winner: MicroGen Systems (Nanotechnology power generator for autonomous electronics and wireless sensor applications). Founder: Robert Andosca
Entrepreneurship@Cornell BIG Idea Competition:
Winner: capLight (LED light assembly on cap of a bottle designed to provide low-cost, energy-efficient lighting in areas without electricity). Founders: Chris Dobyns and Folajimi Fowose (Cornell '13)
2012 New York State Business Plan Competition:
Winner: Strong Arm Technologies (Products designed to increase safety and productivity in the materials handling industry). Founders: Sean Petterson and Justin Hillery (RIT '12)
Startup Weekend Rochester
Winner: In Time (Makes a funeral accessible via an online digital channel). Founder: Tony DiPietro
