RACHEL AND CHARIOT: THE END OF THE ROAD

In 2007, we introduced the world to then-89-year-old Rachel Veitch. When we heard about her nearly 50-year love affair with her 1964 Mercury Comet Caliente, which she named Chariot, we knew we had to meet her. With her unique brand of wit and straight talk, she not only captured our hearts, she became an international star. Since we produced that first story on Rachel, she has appeared in newspaper articles around the world and was a featured on the Today Show and "The Tonight Show" with Jay Leno! Now 93, Rachel made a big announcement this week -- her driving days are over. On Thursday, we're heading over to Rachel's house for one last ride in Chariot, a car that has racked up 567,000 miles.
