San Juan Council
Needs More Proof
The San Juan County Council decided that they needed more proof of community support before they were willing to accept Interior Secretary Salazar's offer to protect the BLM lands in the San Juans via presidential proclamation.
Council members Fralick, Miller and Peterson weren't ready to act and delayed a decision until April 3rd. Please contact all the council members to demonstrate your support for this effort. And please enlist friends on Orcas and San Juan Islands to write their reluctant council members so we can have unanimous support on April 3rd.
Please send a copy of your email to info@SanJuanIslandsNCA.org so we can bring copies with us to the meeting. More information on our website.
If possible, you should consider attending the meeting in Friday Harbor or joining via the video link at the Lopez or Orcas Library. The agenda, with times, will be posted on the council website as the meeting approaches or you can call the council offices at (360) 378-2898.

NCA vs National Monument
Wonder what the difference is between a National Conservation Area and an NCA? A recent publication boiled it down to one page. We can boil it down to two words: not much. They are two paths to the same goal - permanent protection.
