Commercial News

Paul Street, EC2A gains planning consent

Another S+T project recently acheived planning consent.  A new five story building on Paul Street, EC2A, was given the go-ahead by Hackney Council on 21 March 2012.  The existing building will be demolished and a mixed use developmentment will be built by S+T.

Planning Consent for former Queens Cinema

In February, planning consent was granted by Westminster Council to redevelop the former Queens Cinema on Bishops Bridge Road, Bayswater.   The site will provide ground floor retail space, with 16 high-quality residential apartments above, while also providing for improvements to the public realm.Will Lingard, a Director at Turley Associates acting for Derwent London said: “The scheme has raised the bar for development in the area. Members acknowledged that this architecturally accomplished solution compensated for the loss of a locally listed building. Its regeneration effect will be substantial.”


Restaurant News

Alfie's Dubai opens March 2012

This new luxury restaurant opened in Dubai on March 8 2012 with the interior designed Stiff + Trevillion, it is situated in the Boulevard at Jumeirah Emirates Towers, adjacent to the dunhill store.

The interior mirrors the craftsmanship found in dunhill clothing and products and blends vintage and classic with luxury and modern design. The result is a relaxed atmosphere, which is masculine, confident and elegant in appearance.  

The Ribbon Bar, Army & Navy Club

S+T won an RIBA competition to insert a bar on the third floor of the Army and Navy Club which occupies a purpose built 1960s building on Pall Mall.   Located on the third floor with a large terrace, S+T took inspiration from British colonial life between the wars and the classic film, 'Ice cold in Alex'. The result is a relaxed clubby bar that appeals to the younger element of the Clubs membership. The Terrace will grow into a lush tropical garden. S+T worked with the Plant who coined the name The Ribbon Bar, a reference to the coloured medal band worn on dress uniform

Villandry, Bicester Village

S+ T were asked to redesign this existing cafe after a change in ownership and have created a light, airy, French-inspired space.  The new look has increased trade with all-day dining tailored specifically for shoppers. Villandry at Bicester Village opened in late 2011.

Mike Stiff has been appointed to design this exciting new exhibition.  Art13 London will bring a unique global dynamic to the capital’s art world.
