In the Classroom

Artist of the Month
Paul Gauguin (1848-1903)
The French painter and sculptor Paul Gauguin sought exotic environments, first in France and later in Tahiti. He frequently combined the people and objects in his paintings in novel ways, bringing to mind a mysterious, personal world in the process.

Composer of the Month
Maurice Ravel (1875-1937)
Maurice Ravel was a French composer and pianist of Impressionist Music known especially for the subtlety, richness, and poignancy of his melodies, orchestral and instrumental textures, and effects. Much of his piano music, chamber music, vocal and orchestral music have become staples of the concert repertoire. His works, including Bolero will be presented in the classroom for the children.
In April, we held open houses for all of our special classes. View the full album from the Chess Open House on our Facebook page.

Warning: Sun Safety

As the summer heat approaches, we remind parents to take precautions to protect your child from the sun. We ask that sunscreen be applied to your child before bringing them to school.

The students are allowed to wear hats and sunglasses on the playground as well. Be sure that all items are labeled with their name written in permanent marker.

What We're Reading

Table Talk: The New Family Dinner

"What I learned from my mom and dad was that you can go to the big subjects and engage kids more -- my kids are so much more fascinated by World War II than trying to summarize what happened to them that day."
