In the Classroom
Artist of the Month
Paul Gauguin (1848-1903)
The French painter and sculptor Paul Gauguin sought
exotic environments, first in France and later in Tahiti. He frequently combined the people and objects in his paintings in novel ways, bringing to mind a
mysterious, personal world in the process.
Composer of the Month
Maurice Ravel (1875-1937)
Maurice Ravel was a
French composer and pianist of Impressionist Music known especially for the subtlety, richness, and poignancy of his melodies, orchestral and instrumental textures, and effects. Much of his piano music, chamber music, vocal and orchestral music have become staples of the concert repertoire. His works, including
Bolero will be presented in the classroom for the children.
