image of waiter taking an orderENAT Proposal for a CEN Workshop Agreement (CWA) on "Guidelines for Universal Design of Tourism Services" (5 May 2012).  ENAT proposes a CWA which aims to produce guidelines for tourism operators, agents and suppliers, enabling them to make their tourism services inclusive and accessible to all customers, including persons with disabilities, older people and others who have specific access requirements. This will open up new business opportunities and help create better quality offers for tourists.

logo of Calypso EU social tourism initiativeSocial Tourism European Exchanges Platform (1 May 2012).  The EU-funded STEEP project aims at creating and developing a web‐based platform as a mechanism to facilitate transnational tourism arrangements between providers and social tourism organisations, particularly during the low season.

logo of VisitEnglandEngland's Restaurants and Cafés Get New Access Statement Tool (15 April 2012) VisitEngland, the national tourist board, has launched a new version of the Access Statement Online Tool, aimed at helping businesses cater for visitors with access needs.  This new version is specifically tailored for restaurants and cafés, and has been created in partnership with the British Hospitality Association (BHA) and the Restaurant Association.

ETCAATS Partners Launch EU Training Course on Accessible Tourism This new, European on-line training course addresses ways of improving tourism businesses and serving customers who have specific access requirements. The course is an "appetizer" for business owners and employees, giving a general introduction to the subject of accessible tourism.
