Dear <<First Name>>,

May is shaping up to be a very exciting month for Bricolage Academy. The Orleans Parish School Board will likely request applications for new charter schools, starting our application process; meanwhile our founding school team, founding board and support throughout the New Orleans community all will continue to grow. Perhaps what we are most excited about, though, is Maker Faire.

Maker Faire is a two-day festival of invention, creativity and resourcefulness, where 'makers' of all kinds show off their latest creations.  Billed by some as a way to fix a crisis in US science education, Maker Faire is the intersection of science, art, imagination and design.  Creative types of all ages celebrate their successful creations and learn from failure.

At Bricolage, we believe every child has the capacity for unique greatness.  Bricolage's rigorous academic program helps students learn the knowledge they need to succeed, but we think creativity and learning from failure are at least as important as the information and critical thinking skills acquired in the classroom.

All students can benefit from the experience of having a vision for something new and persevering through the trial and error of making that vision a reality.  I will be chronicling my experience at Maker Faire on twitter and facebook.  If you would like real time updates, please follow along.

Cheers,

Josh Densen
