2012 Commercial Market Report

This month, USP released the newly redesigned 2012 Commercial Market Report detailing the office and retail activity in the district. Union Square’s 24-hour community continues to be a major draw for established tech companies locating in New York City. In the last year, nineteen new technology companies flooded the district snatching up a 213,000 square feet of office space and bringing approximately 910 new jobs to the area. Already home to a thriving residential population, Union Square is also anchored by strong institutions such as Con Edison, Beth Israel Medical Center and New York University that provide an employment base in the neighborhood. 2012 also solidified Union Square’s position as the tastiest in New York City with dozens of new eateries moving in, including 5 Napkin Burger, Tortaria and Ngam. For the complete report, check out our website.

Cooking with Haven's Kitchen

Home to the oldest and largest greenmarket in New York City, Union Square is a mecca for foodies and locavores. Four days a week people flood the square to take advantage of the fresh produce brought in from farms surrounding the city. With sustainability in mind, Haven’s Kitchen has created an hommage to sustainable eating just two blocks away from the Union Square Greenmarket. At Haven’s Kitchen, guests can take cooking classes, learn about sustainable food, and build new relationships with like-minded chefs and farmers from the local area. The school is located in a historic carriage house and provides the ideal environment to experience local food and learn to cook with local produce.
