European Youth Parliament United Kingdom Spring Newsletter

Hello!

Welcome to the Spring Newsletter of EYPUK. In this issue you'll learn more about our successfuly Regional Forums, EurVoice campaign and an exciting job opportunity at the organisation.

As National Sessions Advisor on the Board of Trustees, I'm delighted to welcome you! It’s a busy time for EYPUK as we lead up to our National Sessions this year, building upon the success of our Regional Forums. Our Head Organisers are working very hard with their officials’ team to make this year’s National Sessions ones to remember. We continue to push hard to meet the targets of our business plan and we have some fantastic EurVoice events coming up. I would encourage as many of you to get along to these fantastic events to really increase your EYP experience. There are yet more opportunities coming up over the next few months, our social fundraiser, training events and International events, so watch this space! To see what we on the Board of Trustees have been doing, you can view the minutes from our latest meeting here.
Steph Griffiths
Nationals Sessions Advisor

I'm so glad to welcome you all to the second edition of our fantastic newsletter. The progress we've made over our Regional Forum season has been incredible, a huge thank you to all involved. With EurVoice events and two National Sessions approaching it's a busy time for the Alumni Exec but as members, you all have the chance to help us make these sessions the best they can be. We are always looking for more people to come along and get involved at UK events or somewhere across the vast expanse of EYP International so keep checking the website, Facebook and Twitter for new announcements. In this newsletter you will see just how far we've come and how we couldn't have done it without all the members of EYPUK.

National Sessions 2012
National Sessions’ organisation is fully underway and the Head Organisers are busy creating two wonderful and memorable sessions! Two brilliant teams have been chosen for the Summer Session, 4-8th July, and the Autumn Session, 13-16th September – see the selected officials here. Everybody is excited about the brand new venue - Liverpool Hope Campus – and the two fantastic Presidents, the  Zahra Runderkamp (NL) and the Pauline Chetail (FR). Over the next few weeks, the Head Organisers will be sending those all important emails out, and the pressure will definitely be on. Let’s hope all of the hard work will pay off when we see two wonderful sessions unravel before our eyes!

Regional Forums
This year’s fourteen Regional Forums were a great success and saw a huge number of young people take an active engagement in European politics across the country. The level of debate was extremely high which looks promising for the National Sessions! Thank you to all the alumni who took part and helped make everything run smoothly - to see how the Forums went, look on our website.

EurVoice
It's an exciting time for EurVoice. Following on from our ‘strictly’ inspirational event (Edwina Currie was in attendance) held in Liverpool, we have three events in the next month! Our first event will be in the Scottish Parliament on 26th April, followed by London in the House of Lords on 4th May and finally Cardiff on 17th May in the Welsh Assembly. We'd like to invite all EYP alumni to attend these events and to have the opportunity to meet distinguished guests such as the Lord Speaker, Baroness D’Souza. Please get in touch here for more information.

South East Regional Committee
The first meeting of the South East Regional Committee took place recently, with the aim of bringing together alumni in the region to discuss a variety of topics. The minutes are available here, and all interested parties are encouraged to get in touch to strengthen our presence in this area of the country and to meet and greet alumni both new and old.

Upcoming Events
This summer EYPUK Alumni will be embarking on a ‘Three Peaks Challenge 2012’ to raise money for EYPUK. “The National Three Peaks Challenge is a well known phrase amongst the more adventurous, and involves walking the highest mountains in Scotland, England and Wales within 24 hours.” If this sounds like something which you would be interested in then please follow the link and complete the survey.  This is not something for the faint-hearted but will be a truly priceless experience for EYPUK!

EYPUK is pleased to announce its call for a Part-time Project Coordinator – see our website for full details. This is a very exciting development for the organisation and will allow an individual to take a key role in EYP UK, as well as building strong foundations for future careers. If you know of anyone interested in this position, then spread the word and help EYPUK find a passionate and inspirational individual to help us develop our potential.
