The Resiliency Center: Your Place for Healing, Education & Community in Ambler, PA
Sharing Valuable Resources
A Message from Elizabeth Venart, LPC, Resiliency Center Director

I love being part of a vibrant and integrative community of practitioners at The Resiliency Center, and I really enjoy learning about the fabulous array of quality healthcare services in the Greater Philadelphia area. The more resources I have to share, the more connections I can facilitate – and the happier I am.  Please consider joining me in person for my monthly networking breakfast – and why not bring a friend!

Additionally, if you would like to be featured as a practitioner in future newsletters or have a group or professional training that you would like for me to share on your behalf, please email me at evenart@verizon.net.

Wishing you peace, joy, and prosperity,
Elizabeth

Mindfulness Teacher and Coach, Parenting Educator

“You teach what you need to learn most,” a wise mentor of mine once remarked.  This maxim has proven true for me over the past 3 decades, first as a parent educator, and then as an instructor and life coach in mindfulness based stress reduction.  Early in my career, I pursued training in parenting education while raising my children, supplementing my social work skills with my “on the job” learning. Then, at an especially difficult and vulnerable time, after a significant loss in my family, I was introduced to mindfulness meditation.  A decade later, I began teaching mindfulness to enhance health and reduce stress.  I brought mindfulness to my work with parents as well.

Mindfulness, or fully experiencing the present moment with acceptance, provides an open, alive, less judgmental approach towards life.  As a mindfulness teacher and coach, I have seen mindfulness dramatically impact people’s lives; increasing feelings of well-being and overall life satisfaction.

Through learning easy practical tools and a variety of meditation practices, clients acquire the skills to reduce stress, manage anger and difficult emotions, as well as communicate effectively.

Mindfulness is also a powerful tool in helping parents bring calm and clarity to the inevitable pressure of family life.  When caught in a struggle with our child, whether over homework or getting out the door in the morning, we can become overwhelmed by the storm of emotions in the moment.  Mindfulness enables us to be aware of the buildup of the storm, creating a space in which we can respond wisely, rather than impulsively react.  Instead of escalating a screaming match, we might decide to disengage or set a firm limit. Mindfulness enables us to parent in healthy, growth promoting ways that foster resilience in our children.
