"Each of these supporters goes with us as our partners in ministry."

Sent Out

This month has been one of wonderful and blessed transition. As June comes to a close, and July begins to dawn, Joshua will finish his time of service on the staff at First Baptist Church of Danville and begin serving full-time and exclusively as a missionary leader with Grace and Main Fellowship among the homeless, near-homeless, poor, and addicted through the generous contributions of supporters of Third Chance Ministries. So, as July takes over and Josh steps into this new world, it’s appropriate to take an inventory of all of the incredible supporters who go with him into this exciting world by supporting with prayers, advocacy, and financial support.A picture from downtown Danville

From June 21 to June 23, hundreds of baptist Christians from all over the world gathered in downtown Fort Worth, Texas, for the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship’s General Assembly. On Thursday night of this year’s gathering, hands were raised in prayer and blessing and Joshua and Jessica Hearne were commissioned as Global Missions Field Personnel, missionaries sent out among the least evangelized and most marginalized. The fine folks with the CBF put together a video detailing the five people commissioned at this year’s national gathering and you can view that video at: http://bit.ly/MBjeW8. The CBF offers a network of people, training, and support as well as their encouraging and meaningful endorsement.

On Sunday, June 24, First Baptist Church of Danville worshiped together and offered a blessing and commissioning of Joshua and Jessica’s ministry with and through Grace and Main Fellowship. It was a very special service affirming not only God’s original call of Joshua and Jessica to Danville and to FBC, but also God’s call of Joshua and Jessica to Grace and Main Fellowship. First Baptist Church, along with several other partner and encourager churches, provides prayer support, occasional use of their space, volunteers, and financial support. We could not do what we do without beloved partner congregations like First Baptist Church, Moffett Memorial Baptist Church, Ascension Lutheran Church, Clarksville Baptist Church, First Presbyterian Church, and Unity Baptist Church. Some of the lovely folks from G+M

Finally, but certainly nowhere near least in importance, we go out with the support of individuals like you and your family. Dozens of families and individuals have joined our team of ongoing supporters, who give their financial support, prayer support, and/or advocacy. Each of these supporters goes with us as our partners in ministry. Each time you receive this newsletter and read a story of how the Spirit is moving and the Kingdom is advancing in our backyard, please know that it is because of our supporters that we are able to devote ourselves to this ministry—they are the partners who make it possible. If you’re not already a supporter, we’d love to add you to our team—just email us, call us, or otherwise contact us.

Thank you so much for your support and please know that as June gives way to July and we step into this new world with your beloved support, there’s nowhere else we’d rather be than right here. Thank you.

What is Third Chance Ministries?

Third Chance Ministries (3CM) is a ministry of Grace and Main Fellowship that identifies, develops, sends, and supports missionaries to urban areas of profound need in Southside Virginia. We believe that the best way to care for the homeless, near-homeless, impoverished, and addict communities is by supporting missionaries who are deeply invested in their particular areas of profound need as they build intentional, Christian communities around themselves. By supporting the leadership of these communities, 3CM enables these communities to spend 100% of their own donations on direct ministry, service, evangelism, and discipleship.

How You Can Be a Part

Grace and Main Fellowship and Third Chance Ministries need three things from you to continue this ministry of enabling intentional and long-term change in areas of profound need:

  2. Your voice -- If you think this newsletter was worth reading, then please forward it (or a link to our website) through your e-mail and through Facebook, Twitter, or other social media platforms.
  3. Your financial support -- To continue developing and supporting missionaries, we depend upon people like you to help fund our efforts.
