E-Prime Production Release Tips
- Default PreRelease setting now “same as duration” rather than “0” (KB2627)
Although this new default will allow for more consistent timing across the board in experiments, there are some instances where this value will need to be modified to allow experiments to function correctly. The PreRelease value effectively tells E-Prime to stop processing the current object and move to the next one. If InLine script, a PackageCall, or a Feedback object is located next, it will process these immediately and lead to some confusion if users are not careful.
- Default setting now 75% for new objects (KB2642)
The other noticeable new default for objects in the Production Release, this feature allows for more consistent display of visual objects. Upgrading older experiments to the Production Release will maintain objects’ default size of 100%. However, new visual objects (Slide, Text/Image/MovieDisplay) added to the experiment will use the new default size of 75%.

Girls, Math, and Science Tour at PST
On Saturday, April 28th, PST held a tour for the “Girls, Math, and Science” partnership. As part of the “Tour Your Future” program, PST hosted an afternoon of learning and fun for girls age 11-17 who are members of this group. The girls were able to talk one-on-one with technical consultants, artists, and engineers and did hands-on demonstrations of PST’s current and upcoming products. Some highlights of the day included eye tracking, game time in Virtual Reality worlds, and demonstrations of practice fMRI scans with our MRI Simulator and other equipment.
“Tour Your Future” is a career exploration program that connects girls with female professionals who work in diverse STEM careers. It is part of the “Girls, Math & Science” partnership, a program of the Carnegie Science Center in Pittsburgh. More information on these programs can be found at www.braincake.org/.

Continued: E-Prime Production Release Tips
- Multiple Subject Station Versions (KB 5325)
Because of version changes, experiments created using the Production Release will not be able to run in older versions of E-Prime (i.e. 2.0.8.90). In addition, experiments created in 2.0.8.90 will require an update to be able to run on a machine with the Production Release installed. However, a new feature allows for multiple versions of the Subject Station installation to exist on one machine. Because of this, users with the full Production Release installation will be able to run .EBS2 files created in older builds of E-Prime without having to upgrade.
- Enhanced Copy/Paste Functionality (KB1227)
New to the Production Release, users now have the ability to copy not only single objects between experiments, but also entire experiments. Whereas before this was possible, but a time consuming process of adding Devices and Device Properties was required, now all associated Devices and Device Properties are imported with objects as well.
- Experiment Advisor (KB 4806)
The Experiment Advisor provides E-Prime 2.0 Professional experiments the ability to detect design and timing errors in E-Studio and E-Run. In addition, logging statistics such as the OnsetToOnsetTime, OnsetDelay, and LoadTime of objects can be reported.
The Experiment Advisor tab is accessed through the Experiment Object.
