Global Alliance: AGM outcomes
On 22 May 2012, the COHG Global Alliance's Annual General Meeting was held via teleconference.
With participation from clinical organsations from around the world, a mandate was set by the existing GA partners to guide the future of COHG's production of systematic reviews of oral healthcare.
The key suggestions/outcomes from the AGM were as follows:
* Work towards the
completion of prioritised orthodontic reviews;
* Acknowledgement that
vast progress has been made in first year of Global Alliance's operation re: prioritised reviews;
* Commitment for GA to
invest in methodologist assistance to support clinicians in their roles as authors;
* GA to look at better
coordination of guideline production/position papers as a potential remit, by working with guideline development groups (e.g. NICE);
* Commitment for GA to
encourage appreciation internationally of the value in undertaking systematic reviews (i.e. ‘their research’ vs. ‘our research’;
* Work collectively with partners to promote GA and
ensure sustainable finance;
*
Assisting with dissemination of reviews to clinicians;
* Produce
overviews of specialty areas of oral health
for consumers;
* Produce
additional products for priority reviews – i.e. podcasts and journal supplements;
* Produce web pages for website with pages of
information for each specialty and
more resources online;
* Next remit for prioritised reviews is
paediatric dentistry, following same format as orthodontics exercise.
