Building Mini Libraries, Crowdsourcing to Feed the Hungry, Learning about Bees
Dear <<First Name>>,
Don't miss our big collaboration with Foster the Future and Transition Mar Vista to build mini libraries and populate them throughout Venice and Mar Vista. Help out our crowdsourced effort to feed the hungry, and learn about bees from friend to Joyful Activists David King.

Building Mini-Libraries with Foster the Future and Transition Mar Vista
We are in for such an exciting collaboration! Imagine these little libraries popping up throughout Venice and Mar Vista.

We are joining the Little Free Library movement, with its mission of promoting the love of reading and a sense of community through free book exchanges.
Participate in our day-long arts event—a joint project with Foster the Future and Transition Mar Vista—to build and decorate a number of these Little Free Library boxes. Everyone is welcome, including children five and up. Use a hammer and nails, slather on the primer, or use paints and varnishes to decorate the boxes once they are built. Donations of supplies are welcome (scrap wood and re-purposed items). http://fosterthefuture.com/losangeles.html has a list of specific supplies needed, and other fun details.
Check in at 9:30am, work begins at 10am, closing ceremony at 4pm. Don't worry if you can't make it for the whole day, join us when you can.
RSVP to http://fosterthefuture.com/RSVP.html and you will receive a confirmation email with more information.
There will be food provided by Whole Foods Market Venice and the Dragon Pizza Oven.
Live music, djs, and lots of fun.
These library boxes in yards and on streets will enable sharing of books and conversation with neighbors and friends for years to come.

Crowdsourcing Food for the Hungry
Here's another collaboration that is easy to support. Whole Foods Market Venice has begun serving hot breakfasts to homeless folks on the Venice boardwalk. This was instigated by a generous anonymous donor. Now we've joined in, along with a crowdsourcing site called invested.in, and we would like to keep the hot food coming, with the financial support of the community. Check out the site, and kick in a few bucks if you are so inspired. Lots of people putting in small amonts makes magic happen.
Brought to you by the inspired collaboration of The Joyful Activists, Members of the Venice Community & Whole Foods Market Venice.
