June Fun and Summer Yum!

Summer solstice arrives this month and with it three great vendors of organic stone fruit! You'll find organic cherries, blueberries, apricots and peaches from Smit Orchards (more...) and Frog Hollow Farm (more...). And Blossom Bluff Orchards (more...) is bringing in loads of apriums, Flavor Rosa plums, and crimson yellow nectarines. If you can't wait to get home for some of that fruit, Indie Cakes (more...) will be serving up delicious aprium coffee cake and Milkglass Baking (more...) will be topping off their chocolate deserts with organic bing cherries.

On the savory side, we have delicious summer squash rolling in from Happy Boy Farms (more...)and Rio de Parra Organics along with all the culinary herbs to put just the right accent on your pastas, salads, and sautés. Check out Happy Boy Farms' recipe pages for some summer table inspiration.

On Saturday June 23rd, the Kensington Farmers' Market invites you, courtesy of Danny Scher, to a movie selected by market customers at the Kensington Grove Cinema. Stop by the market table for your free ticket and free raffle entry. The raffle will be running for the next three Sundays in June and when we draw the winning ticket at our movie night the winner will go home with over $400 in market goodies as well as gift cards and certificates from local Kensington merchants. You can enter EVERY Sunday you come to the market and you don't have to be at the movie to win.

Music this Sunday will be incredible Jazz, Latin, Bossa and beyond from Little Spike (more...). These folks will have you dancing in the aisles with the vendors, your neighbors, and even the veggies--last time they played I swear I saw a gentleman dancing with a head of lettuce!

Your loco locavore,
Chris Hall (AKA El Jefe)
