Fish4Ever founder to be expert witness at Bristol Ecocide trial
15 June, Bristol: What if Ecocide was made the 5th United Nations Crime against Peace? And heads of state or CEOs were made legally responsible for their destruction of the natural world?
Using real barristers and judges, mock Ecocide trials powerfully illustrate how this would work in practice (2).
This time the focus is on fish, and our marine ecosystems.
On Friday 15 June during Bristol Big Green Week, a jury of Bristolians will decide whether UK marine fisheries policy and practice amounts to Ecocide (3).
Charles Redfern, founder and managing director of Fish4Ever, will be giving evidence as an expert witness. As a trail-blazer in sustainable canned fish, he has been asked to demonstrate the consumer demand for sustainable seafood (4 - 6).
Also present will be Polly Higgins, the high-profile barrister and activist who brought the proposed Ecocide law to a world-stage (7).
Fish4Ever's mermaids will be there, demonstrating for their fellow sea creatures.
Photo opportunity: 1 pm at Bordeaux Quay (8).
