Welcome to Martha Kisling Fine Art!

This last month we were fortunate to be able to spend alot of time with family - a reunion with my husband's brothers and cousins in Glenwood Springs, CO and time with our kids in Charleston SC. I also spent a long weekend in Breckenridge, CO with art friends and time for painting and creative inspiration. I hope you are also having a great summer filled with the people you love.

Last month Todd and I spent a wonderful week at our daughter Laura and son-in-law Eric's house on John's Island right outside of Charleston, SC. We were lucky enough to have the other two kids, Lisa and Scott join us and had a blast going to the beach, paddle boarding, mega kite flying, riding waves, playing games in the backyard, eating freshly caught crabs, shooting hoops and having an all around great time with family. Here we are - a little red from a day in the sun - enjoying a nice Happy Hour in their backyard with Tucker!

Invited Back To Breckenridge     Watercolor Collage WorkshoBig Sky

A few weeks ago in my weekly classes we painted what I call "Big Sky" paintings where the majority of the composition is the sky and the foreground plays a smaller role. This is a great way to experiment with painting different skies - stormy, rainy, sunsets, big clouds, etc. For SOUTHWESTERN SKY I started with dry paper and painted the turquoise blue at the top to create the hard edge of the major cloud shapes and then added some shading to the white areas. I kept the foreground simple with the teepees and grass. For purchase info click here

Creative Journey - Plein Air Painting

I just got back from a weekend in the beautiful mountain town of Breckenridge, CO with some of my art buddies. They were hosting a Plein Air Art Show so we spent time talking to a few of the artists that were painting around town and then saw their finished work displayed at the show that evening. I must admit I am more of an indoor artist but we did all spend some time painting by the river - do you enjoy painting outdoors?ow that evening finished work displayed in a show that evening. Every bit of what I expected and more. Thanks for making such beautiful art. Just thought I'd let you know how pleased I am." It is always nice to hear from a happy collector!
