It would have been Mr. Friedman’s 100th birthday on 31 Jul. Therefore, the LRI organised the Friedman Legacy for Freedom Celebration on that night, with our interns this year giving a presentation about Negative income tax.
The Lion Rock's Roar
In his personal column in Eastweek, Peter Wong says that Democracy is not the key to prosperity, rather checks and balances are. Many people mistakenly believe that the Government is kind, professional and always on the people's side, but history proves that it is not. Skepticism, with objective observations, is always the best way to find out the truth.
In an interview with Ming Pao, Simon Lee talks about purchasing a home. Many misunderstood the nature of purchasing a home as simple as buying a McDonald's meal, but this is only true when you are a cash buyer. Once you need a mortgage, it becomes an investment with leveraging, and it could be quite risky in the sense of asymmetric "gambling".
