Memos from Maddalena:

At the start of an Opera night presentation day, Isabella and I
surround ourselves with all the trappings and all the great
expectations and excitements of what we know will be another
opportunity to present fabulous music. So with the brochures,
cameras, bags, banner and a packed car in tow, we sent off to
Oyster Bay hoping to unite singers, music and audience
in another memorable performance. The church was wonderfully
cool when we arrived, and the seats slowly began to fill. After
a while, our welcoming venue resonated with an eclectic blend of
superb arias, sung by musicians who take their craft seriously.
And they were in especially fine voice this afternoon. As
good wine is vintaged to its mellow perfection, so too are the
opera arias that we never tire of. Opera has passed the test of
time, and our audience is a testament to that fact and a
celebration of all that is positive in the world. Music
sustains and nurtures us. I am sure that whatever your beliefs
may be, you will probably agree that God, (anyway that we
conceptualize him) has a hand in keeping the arts alive. The
singers are the humble vessels that the gift of music passes
through to all of us thus making us whole and adding demension to our lives. Music is food for
the soul. So when you join us in a concert you are doing much
more then mere attending. You are affirming and validating our need
for the arts.
