Dear Coffee Lover,
Speciality coffee in Shanghai is still new -- it's enjoyed by a small group of people who prefer freshly roasted beans over the vacum-packed powder sold by big chains. But the group is growing, and there's great curiousity in tasting the difference. That's why we have just opened
CAFÉ del VOLCÁN: a coffee boutique and premium roastery in the French Concession where both newcomers and caffeine gourmets can experience the flavors of excellent beans from around the word.
CAFÉ del VOLCÁN is located at
80 Yongkang Lu (near Xiangyang Lu) in a great neighborhood with small bars, restaurants, and cafés. Besides using our shop to roast and serve coffee, we import premium beans from an award-winning estate in the Santa Rosa region of Guatemala. Called
Faldas del Volcán ("slopes of the volcano"), this plantation has been in our extended family for more than 120 years -- a history that provides us with a wealth of knowledge on selecting high-quality coffee.
In addition to visiting us at
CAFÉ del VOLCÁN, you will soon be able to get bags of freshly roasted beans delivered via our online shop at
cafevolcan.com. We'll let you know once the website is up, so stay tuned! Until then, please stop by Yongkang Lu and enjoy a cup of coffee with us. We're looking foward to seeing you!
Sincerely,
Nils Weisensee
PS: On top of
Twitter and
Facebook, we've also set up pages on
Fourquare,
Cityweekend,
SmartShanghai,
Weibo, and even
Douban. Please help us spread the word by following, liking, checking in, commenting or whatever else there is to do. Thanks!
