Welcome to Smart Dog U's August newsletter. We hope this newsletter finds you and your dogs well. We're getting our vacation this month! In a couple weeks, my husband and the three (that sounds so odd...) dogs will be headed to Lake Anna. That picture on the left is Tango enjoying vacation from a few years ago. The dogs will swim, jump off the dog and the boat, and swim a little more.
On the puppy front: we're waiting not-so-patiently for a new service pup to raise. We're really hoping one comes soon! Nemo (and I!) really miss the training and playing that comes with a new service pup in-training. I'll be sure to put all the puppy news on the Smart Dog Blog, so stay tuned!

Caysun Update
The sweetest of sweets (Caysun) is doing just fine at Service Dogs of Virginia. She's living with Dillon, a young (5 month old) black Labrador service pup in training. Caysun has been learning some new things, refining some of her skills, and having a good time in a river near Charlottesville with Dillon. They say she loves training and is an enthusiastic learner. She'll be spayed in a couple of weeks and I hope to be able to visit the sweet girl while I'm in Virginia on vacation. There'll be pictures of our visit so keep an eye on the Smart Dog Blog. I'll continue to bring you updates! I want to extend a huge thank you to all of you who sent me encouraging notes when I was at my lowest after turning Caysun in -- what a difference those notes made! |

They'll Grow Out of It, Right?
Don't IGNORE These Issues...
I love teaching Puppy Charm School classes. Who wouldn’t enjoy 5 or 6 roly-poly puppies running, playing, learning? A common question is “Will my puppy grow out of __________ [fill in the blank]. The short answer is “no.” Puppies don’t usually grow out of anything except their collars. They more often grow into adults with the same bad habits that started in puppyhood. So what’s a good dog owner to do? This month’s newsletter will examine what problems you can let slide and which ones need your attention. We’ll also give you a roadmap to solving those behaviors that time won’t solve. Click here to keep reading... |
