Exposing the ELCA
From Exposing the ELCA's Founder

I don’t know about you, but it seems to me that Christians are under attack in the United States. If we just look at the issue of homosexuality, we see wayward denominations, including the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, attempting to force their members to participate in defying God over the issue of homosexuality. Politically, Christians in the United States are constantly being faced with pressure to approve of homosexuality and homosexual marriage. How should we respond to these attacks?

Well-known pastor, John Piper, had this to say to the Christian community:

“. . . it would contradict love and contradict the gospel of Jesus to approve homosexual practice, whether by silence, or by endorsing so-called same-sex marriage, or by affirming the Christian ordination of practicing homosexuals.”

Pastor Piper continues, “We must not be intimidated here. The world is going to say the opposite of what is true here. They are going to say that warning people who practice homosexuality about final judgment is hateful. It is not hateful. Hate does not want people to be saved. Hate does not want people to join the family. Hate wants to destroy. And sin does destroy. If homosexual practice (and greed and idolatry and reviling and drunkenness) leads to exclusion from the kingdom of God — as the word of God says it does — then love warns. Love pleads. Love comes alongside and does all it can to help a person live — forever.” (read here)

Love calls people to turn from sin. Hate encourages people to indulge in sin. We, as God-fearing followers of Christ, must stand up for Truth despite attacks. Scripture warns us:

When I say to a wicked man, ’You will surely die,’ and you do not warn him or speak out to dissuade him from his evil ways in order to save his life, that wicked man will die for his sin, and I will hold you accountable for his blood.

But if you do warn the wicked man and he does not turn from his wickedness or from his evil ways, he will die for his sin; but you will have saved yourself.

“Again, when a righteous man turns from his righteousness and does evil, and I put a stumbling block before him, he will die. Since you did not warn him, he will die for his sin. The righteous things he did will not be remembered, and I will hold you accountable for his blood.

But if you do warn the righteous man not to sin and he does not sin, he will surely live because he took warning, and you will have saved yourself.” Ezekiel 3:18-21

Church leaders, and specifically the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America’s leadership, are in danger. They are not warning people to turn from wickedness;, in fact, they are encouraging people to continue in it.

We, as followers of Christ, need to warn people of their wickedness so they may live. And we need to warn the ELCA’s leadership that they are risking the salvation of many who need to know the saving grace of Jesus by preventing people from knowing the reality of the consequence of our sin.

Exposing the ELCA, I pray, is doing this, just as many of you are.

So let’s be faithful to God no matter what opposition we run into. Help pull people from the fire of hell and bring them to eternal salvation through a saving relationship with Jesus. If you have left the ELCA because of their departure from Scripture, continue seeking to help those that are still in the ELCA realize what is going on. Our fight is not over.

Your brother In Christ,

Dan Skogen

Encouragement

About a mouth ago I wrote a blog entitled, "Angry People." It contained emails and comments I have received that were less than kind.  Not all emails I receive are like that.  Many are kind and encouraging. Because of a suggestion by a reader of my blog, I would like to do a follow up and share with you some comments from a page on exposingtheelca.com that contains encouraging words for what God has done with this ministry. Thank you to all who have written.

- Dan, just want to let you know how much your website has helped me in my search for the reasons behind these decisions the ELCA has been making. The links to "critical issues commentary" in particular, opened my eyes to information and thinking of great dimension. I check your site every day eager to find more enlightening information and am seldom disappointed. May God bless you and your search for the truth. - (a longtime reader)

- Thank you, thank you, thank you for this site and exposing the untruths of the ELCA. . . Again thank you for your ministry through this website. It is very good and most of all true. -  Former ELCA pastor

- Thank you so much for the hard work in putting together all these resources. Everything written is backed up with links and/or most importantly, Scripture. Our family recently left the ELCA, and we've never been happier. Originally, we were nervous about leaving our church because we had been members for many years. We found a Free Lutheran Church that has been such a blessing to us that is 100% Bible based, and we are doing our best to point others stuck in the ELCA to the Truth. I will continue to try to point others in the ELCA to this website so they are aware of this sickening, non-Biblical agenda the ELCA is trying to promote. Thanks again.

- Your web site has been an extremely valuable tool in our search for information and also as a look as to what others are doing.  Please keep up the great work.   Regards, (name withheld)

- I found your site through a friend. Thank God someone has stepped forward with the truth. I left elca in 2009 in disgust. It wasn't just the direction they were headed, but that they've been headed that way all along and have been deceptive about it. The people I left behind are good folks, but either asleep or not willing to rock the boat. Bless you for taking a stand. - (female reader)

Each Week ELCA Pastor Joins Muslims' Friday Prayer at a Local Mosque

The ELCA’s The Lutheran magazine published a story recently called “Finding a common word: Virginia dialogue pairs Lutherans and Muslims” (see here).

In the article we learn of a group composed of mostly Lutherans and Muslims who gather for dialog.  The group meets twice-a-month on Saturday mornings and begin their dialogue “with ‘Al Fatiha,’ the opening prayer of the Quran” and end the meeting with the Lord's Prayer.

Not only that, we are also told, “Group leader Dan Jungkuntz is a pastoral counselor and ELCA pastor. ‘I am so touched by what I have learned about Islam,’ he said. Each week, he now joins the Muslims' Friday prayer at a local mosque.”

What are ELCA leaders doing?  Why is praying to a god that is not the Father, Son and Holy Spirit okay?  Has the ELCA leadership decided that the 1st Commandment, “You shall have no other gods before Me” (Exodus 20:3), is not to be followed anymore?  And it is down right evil for the ELCA to publish and promote what this pastor is doing.  They know they are influencing their members to do the same and to be accepting of it, something that is in complete opposition to what God tells us in Scripture.

Quotes

Error, indeed, is never set forth in its naked deformity, lest, being thus exposed, it should at once be detected. But it is craftily decked out in an attractive dress, so as, by its outward form, to make it appear to the inexperienced (ridiculous as the expression may seem) more true than the truth itself. - Irenaeus Against Heresies (Book I, Preface)
