Public gets rare chance to tour Parkhill Dam

Interested people will get a rare chance to tour the Parkhill Dam on Saturday, July 21

Ausable Bayfield Conservation Authority (ABCA) staff members will host free tours of the Parkhill Dam starting at 9 a.m. on Saturday, July 21. Tours run until 12 p.m. noon.  “This is the first time we have done public tours like these,” said Alec Scott, ABCA Water and Planning Manager. “This open house will give people a better understanding of the design of Parkhill Dam and how it operates.”   For more information visit: http://www.abca.on.ca/newsfull.php?NewsID=308

Ausable Bayfield Conservation project to improve water quality gets boost from Shell FuellingChange™ Program, public votes

Public votes helped an Ausable Bayfield Conservation local environmental project earn $25,000 through the Shell FuellingChange™ Program. “We would like to thank all the people who voted at shellfuellingchange.com to make this possible,” said Tracey McPherson, Geographic Information Systems Specialist with the ABCA. “We appreciate Shell Canada’s program in support of environmental projects in Canada and the public participation and support that made this local project one of the top projects in its category.”   For more information visit: http://abca.on.ca/newsfull.php?NewsID=304

Rural Stormwater Management Model Project

Rural Stormwater Management Model Project continues to move forward

The Ausable Bayfield Conservation Authority (ABCA), the lead agency of the Rural Stormwater Management Model Project, on behalf of the Healthy Lake Huron: Clean Water, Clean Beaches Initiative, is requesting Expressions of Interest from Businesses/Companies/ Agencies to provide consulting services for the background review, collaborative discussions, and development of a mathematical model to be able to define and predict impacts of rural stormwater runoff. The successful Applicant at the Request for Proposals stage will work directly with the ABCA, the Southeast Shores Executive Steering Committee, and sub committees, in performing this work within the guidelines established for the Showcasing Water Innovation Project Funding.      For more information visit: http://abca.on.ca/newsfull.php?NewsID=307

The Summer Nature Day Camp from Monday, August 13 to Friday, August 17, 2012 at Morrison Dam Conservation Area near Exeter is now FULL! A second week may be added August 20-24
If you are interested in a sending your child to a second week of Summer Nature Day Camp from August 20-24, Ausable Bayfield Conservation will be accepting names for a waiting list. The enthusiastic support of parents and guardians and local businesses helped bring the camps back this year. Consider sending a child or sponsoring a child for camp.
