September News at Naples Clay Place!
We hope you've enjoyed our video series in our monthly newsletters. We were inspired from last months video and started a new "Fork Series." The fun thing about pottery is that you can add texture to your design by using tools you find around your house. When the pottery wheel is spinning, I lightly place the fork on the pottery and allow ridges to form on the clay. Come by The Clay Place to see them up close. During our monthly research for sites on Pottery we found The Potters Society of Australia. In 1956, the society was formed to encourage and foster the development, appreciateion and recognition of potters and pottery. In 2006, they changed their name to The Australian Ceramics Association. They are a national, not-for-profit organization representing the interest of potters in Australia and they support and promote quality, specialist ceramics education.

The Clay Place is on the MOVE!
Is your club or organization looking for a NEW and creative group activity? Why not consider hosting a Clay Place Workshop!
For a limited time and a nominal fee, The Clay Place, the oldest professional pottery in Naples, will come to your facility/center/home to give your a "hands on" ceramic painting experience. Jim Rice, owner of The Clay Place, will lead off the 2-hour workshop with a brief explanation of the secrets behind the creation of the ever-popular "fish platter" and then you and your friends (limited to 12 participants per session) will have opportunity to design and paint a fish piece to keep of your own.
