Project Update: Nepal Expedition

Interested in this year's 'Construction Professionals in Nepal' expedition?
For the seventh consecutive year, Aussie Action Aboard (formerly OzQuest) and Architects without Frontiers are offering design & construction professionals and students an opportunity to travel to Nepal to work on a community development project. Participants will collaborate with local architecture students from Nepal Engineering College to work on four projects based in Bhulbhule and Dungai, Nepal including:

  • A toilet block for a kindergarten in Dungai
  • A water collection facility for the village of Dungai.
  • Extending the Bhulbhule church.
  • Converting uncompleted school classrooms to a Disability Care Centre in Mongoladaya (near Bhulbhule)

Volunteer Profile
Meet one of the new faces of AWF's support staff, Kevin Phan, who has recently joined AWF as volunteer Bookkeeper. 

Kevin's background is in finance but he was was interested in the work AWF did supporting communities in need. He became a volunteer as a way for him to use his skills to support the organisation's work.

Pro-bono architect required: Te Kohanga Project, Geebung, QLD

Te Kohanga ote whenua hou Assoc. Inc is a Maori community organisation that aims to increase the wellbeing of vulnerable & disadvantaged communites through the provision of community cultural activities as promotion, prevention & early intervention services. Te Kohanga is looking for a pro bono registered architect to provide assistance with the renovation of their community centre.
 
Please note that this is not an AWF project. As such, the selected pro bono architect will need to liase directly with Te Kohanga, who will manage the project. Please only apply if you have capacity to deliver this project to the client.

“Bringing Architects Together” Seminar

Bangladeshi Architects in Australia (BAA) invite you to attend their seminar “Bringing Architects Together” followed by an excellent exhibition including many current and historic buildings of Bangladesh and works from nationally and internationally acclaimed Bangladeshi architects.

The seminar will be held over 14 -15 September 2012 and is a free event.
