Dear friends,

Ngurratjuta Many Hands Art Centre will hold a unique exhibition and open day during the Desert Mob events. Not only will the watercolour artists (direct descendents of Albert Namatjira) be present at the Art Centre to paint and tell stories, but also they have curated their own work for their exhibition! You may preview the exhibition, or if you can’t attend, purchase works online here:

There is another exciting aspect to the day: 6 rare paintings from the 1940’s-1950’s, from the private collection of the Ngurratjuta Aboriginal Corporation, will be on display at the Art Centre especially for the event. The paintings are of Enos, Maurice and Ewald Namatjira – sons of Albert Namatjira, Rex Battarbee - Namatjira’s painting teacher from Victoria, and Wenten Rubuntja – an important artist and Aboriginal rights activist in Alice Springs.

This event will be held in conjunction with arts company Big hART who will present the Namatjira Project. Bindi Inc and Tangentyere Arts will also open their studio doors on Sunday, and they are just around the corner from us.

What: Open day and watercolour exhibition
When: 9th of September between 11am and 3pm
Where: Ngurratjuta Many Hands Art Centre, 29 wilkinson St. Alice Springs.

We hope to see you at our open day,
