School ministry takes on different forms. Interacting with the students in the classroom is important but many times, longer lasting impact in their lives can be achieved through activities that take place outside of the classroom. In April, the secondary students went on a three-day retreat where they were able to have some fun but also learn about having a deeper relationship with God. At least three teens made professions of faith. We pray that the Lord will work in their lives as well as the lives of all of the students. We also held a Family Activity Day for the elementary and secondary on one Saturday followed by the preschool on the following Saturday. The school was divided into four colors and then competed throughout the day. It was a great opportunity for the parents to interact with each other and with the school staff. Bridges were built and relationships were established which will allow for deeper spiritual ministry.
The last Friday of each month, the 6th graders have a special "tutoria" time after school. The boys and girls split and go to different people's houses to have an activity time and a special devotional. I have been assisting with this program and have used our house to host the boys twice. We have been talking to the boys about how God is interested in our obedience and that He desires a relationship with us. Both students and parents have been appreciative of the time invested in this extra effort.

At the beginning of April, I was invited to speak at a church as they prepared to send one of their own as a missionary to the jungle of Peru. This young man grew up in the church, went to the seminary, and has been working in the church for the last couple of years. It is encouraging to see the churches in Lima fulfilling the call to go to other places and preach the gospel.
In April, after Easter, we started attending Iglesia Bautista Manantial in Manchay and I started teaching the eight-week evangelism course on Sunday evenings. The course has been received well and the church members have been encouraged to witness to their family, friends, coworkers, and even strangers. As part of the course, there is homework each week for the students to complete. The homework involves leaving tracts and talking to people about God and using the ten commandments as a basis for witnessing. As people see that they have broken the law and deserve a punishment, they see the need for a Savior. Keeping the law cannot save us as we cannot keep the law. Only Christ's death in our place can pay the punishment that we deserve. Each week, the participants give testimonies of their week and homework assignment. It is a blessing to hear how many are overcoming their fears to witness to others.

The family continues to adjust well to living in Lima. We do appreciate all your prayers for us. JD, Amy and Julia have each developed friendships here in Lima which is an answer to prayer as I know that some of you have been praying specifically for them. On one day, we were able to go sightseeing a little to get the kids out of the house and spend some time together. Here are a couple pictures from that day.
Thank you all for your continued prayers and your support. The Lord is blessing our ministry here in Peru and we are eager to see Him continue to work in our lives and in the lives of those we can influence.
