New Opportunity for Dialogue with Presenters

To help artists, agents & managers looking to get dance, theatre and multi-media presentations on the touring circuit, Ontario Contact 2012 is announcing a pilot project. If you think you have a project or an idea that deserves additional attention but may not showcase well in our traditional format, please download, fill out and submit this Request for Proposals. All submissions will be considered by a jury and some will be invited to meet with presenters during the afternoon of October 24th, immediately preceding Ontario Contact.

Submit your proposal by September 1, 2012 to Cheryl Ewing at Cheryl@ccio.on.ca

Ontario Contact 2012 Sponsorship and Advertising Opportunities Now Available!

CCI is offering several sponsorship and ad opportunities for ONTARIO CONTACT this year. A greater emphasis has been placed on professional development and networking activities. Showcasing artists are being given additional time to prepare for their showcases and those not showcasing have an opportunity to make a pitch to presenters outside of the Contact Room. ONTARIO CONTACT is also continuing its commitment to the development of tomorrow’s presenters through a Youth Delegate program. Please show your support and either purchase an ad or sponsor an event.

Re:Sound Tariffs / Copyright Board Objection

In response to industry concerns regarding the Re:Sound tariff issue, CAPACOA has teamed up with several other NASO’s on behalf of presenting networks and professional theatres and filed an objection with the Copyright Appeals Board on August 8th. It is anticipated that the Appeals Board will direct Re:Sound to open negotiations with industry associations such as PACT and CAPACOA and negotiate a blanket licence fee as has been done previously with SOCAN. We are grateful to CAPACOA for taking on this work on behalf of ALL presenters across Canada.

For more information on the Re:Sound proposed tariffs, visit the Copyright Appeal Board’s web site.

Arts & Equity Toolkit

Recently released by the Neighbourhood Arts Network, the Arts & Equity Toolkit is a brand new resource for community-engaged artists. Designed to provide artists and groups with practical tools to reduce barriers to community participation in the arts, the Arts & Equity Toolkit is a comprehensive document that includes case studies, worksheets, resource links, and quotes from Toronto-based artists and groups.

The Arts & Equity Toolkit is available for free through the Neighbourhood Arts Network. Excerpts from the toolkit are also included in the recent Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives publication, Pluralism in the Arts in Canada. Edited by Cultural Pluralism in the Arts Movement of Ontario’s charles c. smith, this book will be a core text for Arts Management students at the University of Toronto this fall.

The Arts & Equity Toolkit is an initiative of the Neighbourhood Arts Network, with support from Manifesto Community Projects. The project was made possible through the Ontario Ministry of Culture’s Cultural Strategic Investment Fund.
