Do Something!

A woman who is really making here mark in this world is Katie Meyler. She is the founder of More than Me, working to get girls in Liberia out of prostitution and into school. Girls' Globe felt so inspired, we just had to share her spoken word with you. Watch it and read our post about her. Be inspired!

We can do it!

During the summer and early fall Girls' Globe has been growing tremendously. We are now a team of 4 bloggers spread out around the world, and more on the way. Girls' Globe is an incredible group of girls passionate to empower girls and women around the world. We would like to welcome our newest members!

Elisabeth Jessop joined Girls' Globe to write about women's empowerment and the impact of education. She has experience from several NGOs and came into contact with Girls' Globe after she was the U.S. Delegate for the 2012 G(irls) 20 Summit. 


Sally Pope is a recent Public Health graduate from NYU, through which she has been actively involed in research projects around the world. She is passionate for global health issues, human rights and gender equality. 

Camaro West is currently in Ghana, working with gender equality as an intern at YMCA. Born in St. Kitts, she is passionate about the situation of women and girls in the Carribean.

Half the Sky

Half the Sky: Turning Oppression into Opportunity for Women Worldwide airs tonight on PBS. It is a documentary based on the book with the same name. Don't miss out, and if you don't have the chance to watch it. Buy the DVD. Host a film screening, join the Half the Sky movement and follow the Girls' Globe blog to learn more about the positive changes that are being made for women and girls around the world. 
Girls' Globe is a platform for advocacy, awareness raising and capacity building with the ultimate goal to empower and enhance the wellbeing of girls and women around the world. We have big plans for the future and in the coming months Girls' Globe will be travelling and an exciting journey lies ahead.

Do you have an organization you want us to write about, or know of a person who needs support in working to empower girls and women? Share your thoughts, stories and ideas with us. Fighting Trafficking

Sally Pope writes about domestic trafficking in her post GEMS: Fighting Domestic Trafficking One Girl at a Time. Trafficking isn't just an international issue, it is a domestic one. There is so much we need to learn to be able to understand and combat this horrific trade. Early Marriage 

Every year 10 million girls are married before the age of 18. Read this post on Girls' Globe and learn more about child marriage and what is being done to end this practice, and see a short film from Girls Not Brides. Let's spread the word about this human rights violation and support the organizations working to make a change. 

Girls & Education

Girls' education has proven to be one of the mose effective ways to fight poverty, writes Elisabeth Jessop in her post. Yet, out of the 75 million children who are not in school, over half of them are girls. Read Elisabeth's post and learn more about what you can do to help put girls in school.
