Busy weekend for CPS events
The very first Ciclovia WI was a great success on Sept. 22 and we’d like to thank all our volunteers for making the event run smoothly. It was great to see students and families outside enjoying the route and various activities throughout the seven-mile loop. Despite the snow earlier that morning, there were a lot of smiling faces and positive attitudes … We’re looking forward to next year’s event!
A total of 42 golfers braved the cold on Sept. 22 for the inaugural SHRM Golf Outing at Glacier Woods Golf Club in Iola. All profits go to scholarships for UWSP business and communication students who are members of SHRM.
Advising update
CPS academic advisors are very busy this time of year. The College of Professional Studies requires all new students (first-year students and transfer students) in a CPS major to attend a CPS New Student Advising Meeting. These group advising meetings are designed to introduce new students to academic advising resources available at UWSP.
In addition, advisors are using a pilot program called MAP-Works that UWSP has implemented to track student progress, assess risk factors and red flag students at high risk. The focus will be on first-year students to help retention/success rates. Students will be asked to take a few surveys and the data provided by the surveys will be extremely valuable.
Benefits meetings announced
In an attempt to make sure every employee gets the information they need to make sound benefits decisions for 2013, Julie Hayes, benefits specialist, will conduct small group meetings for CPS faculty and staff. Mark your calendars!
